So, as we get older we often wonder: is it time to stop the party? What age do we need to stop going out and drinking? I'm sure some of you still party your asses off. Some of you will be that 50 year old at the party. Come on, you know that guy or girl who is way too old to be partying but didn't get the memo. Do you want to be this person? If you said yes, good for you. If you said no, well, it's your life and you're free to make mistakes if that's what you want to do.
Rule one in deciding if its time to hang up the shot glass: do you have children? When you have children, it's more then likely in their best interest to stop getting drunk and banging randoms. You know it's time when one of your “random hookups” is what got you the little shit. Now, there is such thing as hanging up the glass for another day. Granted, you will more than likely have to wait 15 years until your accident can get a learner's permint, but hey, who cares? Who knows, you might be that weird parent getting drunk with your kid's friends.
Do you have a job that limits your drinking habits? Some jobs actually require you to be sober. I know, such a buzz kill, but it happens. If you have one of those jobs, it's probably a good idea to not party 'til your liver fails. (by the way...the game) Also, some jobs actually can do random alcohol tests. So at the very least, limit yourself to only drinking during your off days. This will keep you from losing your job due to drinking, at the expense of losing your drinking to your job.
Is partying causing harm to your body? If the answer is yes, then you might want to quit. If your liver is failing or you caught AIDS from that drunken whore, it's time to throw in the rag and hang up the shot glass. No, I don’t mean ringing the bar rag out in the shot glass you hung up. If you do that you have a major problem and need to seek help. Call 1-800-ALCOHOL if you're that screwed up.
In conclusion, if you have any of these problems you need to quit. If you don't, then drink and screw everyone! You, my friend, don't need to hang up the shot glass.
